Welcome! My name is Amenah Thomas, I have years of expertise working with individuals of all ages, from adolescents to older adults. Over the years, I have worked with a very wide demographic of individuals, including those who are healing from trauma, and those who struggle with depression, anger management, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, and substance abuse. I facilitated group therapy sessions in addition to one-on-one counseling. A therapeutic atmosphere should be an oasis of safety where individuals may be honest about their struggles and experiences without fear of judgment. I have used (CBT) cognitive behavioral therapy to help individuals break negative cycles by breaking down what makes them feel angry, anxious, or fearful. By making their struggles more manageable, CBT can assist you in changing your negative thought patterns and improving your mood. I have also practiced (DBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy DBT is a therapeutic practice that helps people learn new coping and relational skills. This can be beneficial for those suffering from eating disorders since disordered behaviors can become a coping mechanism for distressing emotions or relationship difficulties.
